Hell, it's about time...for COOKIES!

So, ever since I spied the flood icing technique on Sweetopia, I've been dying to try it. I love how smooth the designs turn out. My guy has been feeling a bit down lately, so I decided to make him some Starcraft II cookies. I would have made Diablo III cookies for him, but that'll have to wait till the game releases ;)

Here's how I did it:

1.) I seriously did not feel like free-handing these designs onto the cookies - (Especially the one for the Zerg. Hello, spikeys...) - so for my templates, I searched online for the faction symbols: Zerg, Protoss and Terran. Using Photoshop, I scaled them to the size of my cookie cutter, printed them onto cardstock and then cut them out.

2.) Using an AmeriColor writer, I traced the design onto each cookie. Don't panic, that's actually a pen that dispenses food coloring. It is my new favorite toy and I luffs it.

3.) Here are the designs all traced and ready to be piped.

4.) With royal icing, I used a #1 Wilton tip to pipe the outline of the designs and let this dry for about 20 minutes.

5.) Now for the flooding. I added water to the frosting in order to get it to the consistency so that it would smoothly cover the exterior of my design. I used a #2 Wilton tip to fill.

6.) Once the outside had dried a bit, I colored the remaining frosting, added water for flooding consistency and filled the rest in.

And there you have it! Not even Kerrigan could resist these! Now go forth and construct additional cookies ;P
